Callie Koehn received the $400 scholarship from the ABWA Endowment
at ESU. She is attending Newman Division of Nursing at Emporia State University. She expects to graduate in May
2011 with a Bachelor of Science - Nursing. She is a Kansas girl growing up in Chase County. She was home schooled
through the eighth grade and graduated from Chase County High School in May 2007. In the fall of 2010 she will be required
to work 12 hour shifts in a specialty field for four days out of the school week, in addition to 12 credit hours of classes
and studying for state boards. She is grateful for this scholarship as it will help her finish her last year in the
nursing program and achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.
Jessica Dhority and Dacey West received $400 scholarships directly
from the ABWA Emporia Charter Chapter. Jessica Dhority graduated in 2010 from Northern Heights High School with a 3.4
grade point average. She will be attending Emporia State University in the fall and plans to get a Bachelor of Science
degree in Business Education She has been actively involved in Future Business Leaders of America on a local and state leavel,
as well as participated in school sports and activities, and still had time to volunteer for many other activities.
She has served as the editor of Kansas State FBLA Exchange Quarterly for the past two years, in addition to helping maintain
the Kansas FBLA State website. She has developed a variety of office skills through a part time job at Reading Grain
& Lumber.
Dacey West graduated from Lebo High School. She plans on studying
psychology at Emporia State University this fall. She was able to maintain her goal of a 4.0 grade point average throughout
high school and was ranked first in her class of 29 students. She finished high school with 17 college credit hours
through Allen Community College. She is very involved in competitive softball as well as many school and community related
functions.
